Experience An Unbelievably Luxurious College Life

College living is not what it used to be.  In fact, students at many colleges and universities across the country may find themselves experiencing such a luxurious lifestyle that they will have a hard time replicating it any time soon after graduation.

While most colleges host a rec center, the one at University of Missouri was named the best in the country by Sports Illustrated.  It includes a gym that’s almost 300,000 square feet, and a palm-tree shaded lazy river complete with a waterfall.

Students who are avid skiers might look towards Dartmouth College, which has sent student skiers to the Winter Olympics in past years. They get plenty of practice right at school, as this Ivy League institution owns Dartmouth Skiway where students can get a season pass for only $99.

Those who prefer to golf should check out the University of Georgia where the course is consistently ranked among the top in nation.  Other colleges and universities with truly impressive golf courses include Duke, Texas Tech, Stanford, University of Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Penn State, Yale and Clemson.

If gourmet food is a priority, High Point University in North Carolina earns praises for its 1924 Prime Steakhouse, featuring Prime Sirloin Filet.  Students are allowed to feast in this restaurant weekly, at no extra cost, as the school believes that engaging in fine dining is a valuable learning experience. Other popular college eateries include Ibby’s at Washington University in St. Louis, known for its crispy calamari, filet mignon, and bistro fries, and J.P.’s Chop House at Virginia Tech which prepares steak to order and live Maine lobster every day!

Students at South Dakota State run their own dairy bar.  They make and sell over 60 ice cream flavors, and claim to have invented Cookies n’ Cream ice cream back in 1979.

As for luxurious college dorms, it would be hard to top the gleaming 26-story glass structure that adorns Boston University. It was actually described by the Boston Globe as “perhaps the most opulent residence hall to ever grace the local college landscape.” This dorm features private bathrooms, walk-in closets, lounges with flat screen televisions, and a soundproof music rehearsal space.

Amenities are not limited to just new facilities.  At Oberlin College in Ohio, students can rent famous works of art from the Allen Memorial Art Museum, at a cost of $5, to decorate their dorms.  Options range from Pablo Picasso to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.  Students also have access to over 230 Steinway grand pianos across campus, including one in every residence hall.

It’s going to be tough for students to replicate this lifestyle once they have earned their college degree!
